The Ray
The Ray is a brooch inspired by a ray of sunlight appearing through the clouds on a cloudy day. The base color of the brooch is dark, as the piece uses black rhodium plated metal and a black diamond. Bright gemstones are combined with the dark base to brighten the whole piece. The pearls give a soft glow, while the diamonds add sparkle next to the dark metal. The brooch was developed as a three-dimensional digital model. The Ray measures 50 by 30 by 17 millimeters.
The Ray Brooch by Wonhee Kim has been featured as a creative illustration of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Ray Brooch won the Iron A' Design Award in Jewelry Design in 2023. The A' Jewelry Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that rewards exceptional design of rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, pendants, cufflinks, anklets and more.
